Bachelor of Innovation Overview

Innovation as we learned throughout many classes is defined as transforming ideas into impact; however, not many people are aware that innovation is even a concept that should be taught, developed, and demonstrated in each activity completed. When I began college the idea of being in the only Bachelor of Innovation Degree Program in the country worried me. I did not believe I could be the person to transform ideas into impact and to make a difference with any ideas. Yet somehow my attitude changed.

In high school, my favorite classes were the American Sign Language (ASL) and photography. I never thought these classes would change my perspective on myself but years later, these are the classes that affected me and completed who I am and want to be. In those ASL classes, taught me a whole new language and how a culture has had to adapt to create anything for themselves. Five years of ASL classes has made me fluent in this beautiful language. The photography classes were where we got to plan the pictures, take the picture, and tell the story. Once I took all the photography classes possible, I learned of being a pathway graduate. The best way to describe this is a major but in high school. From this program I was able to learn the different Adobe Suite apps and build my background in graphic design. I never realized until late into college that those classes were where my love for graphic design stemmed. These small little classes that no one really expects to learn that much from has transformed my opinion what I can and will do. From these classes, I have learned to communicate with individuals that many cannot talk to because of the tough barrier between them and I also learned to create and tell a story through graphics and my designs. Each of the aspects has helped through my innovation classes with clients, my marketing classes, and my marketing internship.
